HUD: Disaster Aid Offered to Vermont Storm Victims

Federal aid supports state, Tribal and local recovery for July 9-11, 2024

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced the implementation of federal disaster assistance for the State of Vermont and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by a severe storm, flooding, landslides, and mudslides from July 9 to July 11, 2024.

President Biden issued a major disaster declaration for the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding in the counties of Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Lamoille, Orleans, and Washington.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
