FEMA: President Trump Approved Major Disaster Declaration for the La Jolla Ban of Luiseno Indians

FEMA announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available for the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians to supplement tribal recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides from Feb. 14 – 15, 2019.

Federal funding is available to the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for debris removal and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians.

Mark Wingate has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Wingate said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
