The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development (EDA) administration has awarded over $10 Million in CARES Act Funding to support economic development and economic recovery in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Investments include:
- $400,000 to help 13-county region in South Central Tennessee
- $400,000 to help Panhandle Region in Texas
- $400,000 to help New River Valley Region in Virginia
- $300,000 to help Tennesee Technological University
- $12 million to capitalize revolving loan funds to help small businesses in Georgia
- $6.7 million to capitalize revolving loan funds to help small businesses in Kentucky
- $400,000 to help Rockingham and Hillsborough Counties in New Hampshire
- $400,000 to help eight-county region in Northeast Tennessee
- $300,000 to help the University of Puerto Rico
- $400,000 to help three-county region in Oregon
- $400,000 to help five-county region in Northeastern Pennsylvania
- $400,000 to help six-county region in North Central Pennslyvania
- $400,000 to help the heart of Texas
- $400,000 to help 19-county region in West Central Texas
- $400,000 to help 10-county region in Alabama
- $400,000 to help five-county region in Northwest Alabama
- $400,000 to help six-county region in Florida
- $300,000 to help Delaware State University
- $300,000 to help the University of Kentucky
- $400,000 to help 10-county region in East Alabama
- $400,000 to help four-county region in Northern California
- $400,000 to help five-county region in Central Florida
- $400,000 to help eight-county region in East Central Florida
- $400,000 to help seven-county region in Western Nevada
- $400,000 to help High Country North Carolina Region

The CARES Act, signed into law by President Donald J. Trump, provides EDA with $1.5 billion for economic development assistance programs to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
On May 7, Secretary Ross announced that EDA is accepting applications for CARES Act Recovery Assistance funding opportunities.
EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance, which is being administered under the authority of the bureau’s flexible Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) (PDF) program, provides a wide-range of financial assistance to eligible communities and regions as they respond to and recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
