Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.3 million grant to the town of Bourne, Massachusetts, to construct a new waste water treatment plant. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 30 jobs, retain 183 jobs and spur $18.3 million in private investment.
“The Trump Administration understands that investing in the infrastructure improvement that will create jobs for the American workforce,” said Wilbur Secretary Ross. “I look forward to seeing how the new Bourne water treatment plant will improve the Cape’s local economy and support industries like marine science, technology and renewable ocean-based energy development.”
This project will assist in the construction of a new waste water treatment plant that will provide crucial and needed treatment capacity in Buzzards Bay. The proposed project is vital to economic diversification in the area. It will support growth within the Cape Cod Commission’s targeted marine industries, providing new job opportunities for the entire Cape Cod Economic Region.
